Our focus of education is training dietitian scientist
who can perform nutrition management and therapy with the mindset of researcher. Clinical dietitian must deeply make an assessment of the patients with anthropometric data, biochemical blood and
urine data, food and nutritional intake, then make out a nutritional prescription and nutritional care plan based on the scientific evidence of the nutrition therapy. Thus, dietitian scientist
must think about patient's nutritional status from a theoretical standpoint, and should be a clinical dietitian with researcher's mind.
The purpose of our research is to clarify the relationship of the food intake and nutritional metabolism to solve current nutritional problem in various diseases, especially in life style-related
diseases. The current themes are:
(1)understanding of nutritional metabolism by nutri-genomics and metabolomics technique,
(2) prevention of renal failure and atherosclerosis based on phosphate and mineral metabolism in chronic kidney disease patients, and
(3)elucidating nutrition interactions between glucose and lipid metabolism, and phosphate and glucose, lipid, iron and zinc metabolism.
Our goal is to develop a novel nutritional therapy, a nutritional care system or a nutritional education tool for the prevention of life style-related diseases such as obesity, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, etc.
